Wonderful Wonderwool

Last Sunday I went to Wonderwool 2014 at the Royal Welsh Showground, Builth Wells.  It was my first visit and also the first time I've taken a Marchants Coach Excursion. So I was up bright and early (for a Sunday) to drive to the coach pick up point and join another 40 odd fibre enthusiasts for the journey. Wales was green and damp but the coach had us there in just over 2 hours in reasonable comfort.

They say you shouldn't shop for food when you're hungry.  I can add don't go into a wool show when you're cold as the first thing I bought was a beautiful woven alpaca scarf -- so soft and warm, Mmmmm.

Here is all my booty together. Quite restrained compared to some of the others on the bus!

• Alpaca Scarf from Town End Alpacas
• 800m Lace weight Alpaca/silk/cashmere from Coastal Colours pink/purple/grey mix (it says garnet/violet/coal on the label)
• 3 hanks of Turquoise "Excelite" made from Exmoor Blueface: John Arbon Textiles
• A 3.25 mm 80cm circular bamboo knitting needle.
• 2 different balls of Lang Jawoll Magic degrade - generally available but I've been wanting to see the colours before I bought some.
• Daisy Shawlette pattern by Anniken Allis - the picture doesn't do it justice
• 1 scotch egg - not pictured - in my tum - yum.

I looked at a lot of felting and weaving projects and equipment and was tempted to give one of them a go. Perhaps I should try and find a beginners course a bit closer to home than Mid Wales.  We shall see.
